Big-print step-by-step gadget cheat sheet for a parent or grandparent
Easy start
Your mom calls again: “How do I do the video call thing?” You love her. Third time this week.
Make her a cheat sheet she can keep by the phone. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok:
“Write super simple step-by-step instructions for [task, like starting a FaceTime call / turning on TV captions / texting a photo] on a [device, plus the model if you know it]. Short steps, one action per step, name the exact buttons, no tech words. Add an ‘if you get stuck’ line at the end. Keep it to one page.”
Then test it yourself on the actual device. Menus change, and AI sometimes guesses a button name that isn’t there.
Print it big. Tape it somewhere obvious. Enjoy your Sunday.
After the first answer, reply with what you'd change (shorter, simpler, more detail) and ask for a second version. Then save the prompt that worked so you can reuse it.
