Kid/homework “explain like I’m 10”

Homework hour hits different when the worksheet might as well be written in another language. Here’s my parent hack: ask AI to explain the concept like the kid is 10 — then YOU still check the work.

Paste the question or topic into ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok:

“Explain this like I’m 10 years old. Use a simple example from everyday life. Then give 2 practice questions with answers so a parent can check understanding. Don’t just give the homework answer — teach the idea. Topic/question: [paste]”

Sit with your kid, read the explanation together, try the practice ones. If the AI is wrong or weird (it happens), you catch it. That’s the point — AI is the patient tutor, you’re still the adult in the room.

Works for fractions, science vocab, “what’s a thesis statement,” all of it. Less tears. More “ohhh I get it.”
